Groom Touch Up

Sabs, on March 12, 2018 at 1:02 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 9
Hello!

I tried to search this topic in the forums and ended up empty handed. The makeup studio I’ve engaged for our wedding offers groom touch ups. My FH and I are very low maintenance and he’s against makeup for me (let alone, for guys). My mom thinks it’d be a good idea, but he’s not open to the idea. Has anyone else had groom touch up added to her wedding? If so, do you think it’ll make/has made a difference in the way your FH looks on your special day/in photos?

Thanks all!

I think it would make it a lot easier on the photographer, but if he's not comfortable with it I'd say don't do it

I honestly think this sounds like an unnecessary expense the studio added to their services because it has wedding attached to it. Besides lipstick, I didn’t need to touch up any of my makeup for our entire ceremony and reception. Getting a groom touch up would have been so unnecessary. My husband looked so handsome in every one of his pictures. I’ve never looked at anyone’s wedding photos and thought “wow, they should have done something about the groom.” Also, if he’s uncomfortable with it, definitely skip it. If anything, he’ll look awkward and uncomfortable in pictures if he feels forced to do something he doesn’t want to do.

I didn’t even have a touch up. Why make him do something he is uncomfortable with?

I've never heard of a groom touch up. What is it?

I've heard of the grooms/mens touch up. I think it would be great to do - but if FH is strongly against it - I do not think its worth pressing.

To others - a grooms touch up is where the MUA does very very light makeup on the groom, mostly to just even out the skin tone a bit.

Thank you! Yes, I thought it would be worth it because it’s going to be the most heavily photographed day of our lives, but I don’t want him to resent me for making him do it.

I think the services depend on the studio, but this is the one of the descriptions I got:

The groom’s styling includes face/ skin tone touch up, eyebrow grooming ( if necessary) and hairstyling. You can always ask the groom if he feels confident doing his own hair or not! Some grooms are pretty good with styling their own hair since they do it everyday but some may need some help ! Smiley smile we won’t be doing a full makeup on the groom but we will use products to even out the groom ‘s skin tone for a healthy complexion and use anti-shine products on skin to help him to be camera ready!”

I’m not a girly girl. I never wear makeup, and he says I don’t need it. He doesn’t think I need it for the wedding day either, but he understands if I want it done.
