Groom in shorts

Shay, on April 27, 2019 at 8:14 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13
We are having a mountain wedding in the summer, my fiancé really wants to wear shorts (tan dress shorts with a white dress shirt) I’m not thrilled but it’s the only thing he’s asked for, and it is a casual rustic wedding. I wanted to get long bridesmaid dresses but my MOH says it will look funny with the men wearing shorts. I don’t love the look of long dresses. Thoughts? Pictures?

I don't understand. You want to get long bridesmaid dresses, but you don't love the look of long dresses. Do you want long or short dresses?

I’m not sure that shorts and long dresses would look great together. I also don’t know that floor length dresses would be the best idea for an outdoor wedding in August. Would you consider a high-low dress for the bridesmaids?

I'm not a fan of the shorts, but if you are okay with it then go for it. I personally like the short dresses better with the shorts than the long dresses, but here are photos to give you an idea.

I hate the idea of shorts at a formal event. We had a wedding on the beach and my groom still wore a suit. A more casual suit with no tie but still.

It’s not my favourite either, but I can’t imagine him telling me I HAD to wear a certain dress... it is his wedding too!

    Formal event = formal attire.

If you want a casual event.. choose a casual venue, a casual set up, and casual attire for both bride and groom.

It is casual rustic. I was more looking for pictures of long dresses with shorts to see if I liked it, but thanks.

You said it's casual rustic, in the summer, guys wearing shorts, long dresses look funny with said shorts and you don't like the look of short dresses. Don't hate me for this idea but maybe you could look into some really cute rompers since it's casual?

Ask him to wear pants for the ceremony and photos, then change into shorts for the reception. If you tell him it means a lot to you, I'm guessing he'll want to make you happy.

Hey Shay!! Have you come to a final resolution for your FH's attire? Will he be wearing shorts, or changing into shorts for the reception? 😃
