Groom Apparel

I have a question. We are getting married at the end of April at a golf course in Arizona.

My fiancé does not feel comfortable when he wares a suit jacket. Would it still be okay if he just wore a vest? We would have the groomsmen ware a different color.

Only reason why I have created a discussion to ask is because my parents think he should ware a full suit(jacket and all) because it is a special occasion

I've seen a lot of people get away with a vest. It's kind of a hipster look. It's your wedding and you dont have to follow etiquette on everything. He could also just wear it for the ceremony and then take it off.

I'm letting my fiance pick what he wants for his suit. The only thing I told him was it needs to be navy blue. I've seen plenty of grooms with the vest only look and they still look handsome. I would suggest having the groomsman in a different color to let him stand out. Let mom and dad know its what he feels comfortable with and move it along. Maybe he can only wear it for the ceremony and then take it off for the reception if that helps.

I think a vest would be fine, if that's what he wants! My groom said no jacket, tie, bow tie, vest, or suspenders, haha. I understand your concern though. My parents definitely think it's weird that none of the guys will be in a full suit

He will be fine in just a vest. My fiancé is doing the same thing. Plus it’s already hot in April in Arizona so he will be much more comfortable!

My FH and all of his friends barely ever dress up. We’re doing jeans with a vest and tie. It’s much more comfy for them and when you get to your reception, they usually end up taking off their jackets anyways because they’re running around and dancing, ect. It’s less expensive and a lot cozier and laid back, but still looks nice!

Arizona bride here! That's totally fine, and very normal! Especially in AZ where it's hot even at night.

I hate suit/tux jackets - I'm a manager and it just feels so stuffy! I love the suspenders look and my FH is wearing light gold suspenders under his jacket o match my dress and taking the jacket off after the ceremony (he wants the jacket). The vest would be fine! If my FH wanted to forgo the jacket I'd be all for it.
