Groom and Mother Dance

Anthony, on December 30, 2019 at 12:05 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5

There is a bit of a rif in my family, where my aunt has served more as mother figure and raising me. However, both my aunt and mom will be attending the wedding. How should I handle the situation, as I do not want to hurt my mothers feelings, but, also want to recognize my aunt for all she has done for me. Would it be acceptable to have a dance with both?

I think you could absolutely have a dance with both of them! That would be really sweet.

Thank you! I've seen where a bride or groom had danced with both their biological and step parents, just wasn't sure on aunt and mom.

I would say absolutely! My fiancé is going to dance with his mother first and then throughout the night he’ll have a dance with my mom and my stepmom. Same with me, I’m going to dad with my dad first and then I’ll dance with his dad at some point. There are lots of ways you can recognize and honor her! That’s very sweet!

Absolutely! The “traditional” rules are just guidelines, and you should personalize your wedding however you want to make it right for you! Smiley smile

Yes, you can absolutely do a dance with both. I think that sounds really nice.
