Groom and Groomsmen Shirts - Any white dress shirt?

I would say have them wear the same shirt. The GM could have different shades of white - one could have an ivory shirt and have no idea that's not 'white.' If it's in their budget, I'd say make them all get a nice clean and crisp white shirt. If not, have a quick run through of all the guys shirts just in case

I don't see why they could just wear a white button down as long as it was a pretty standard design of shirt. If they already have a white shirt, it would save the GM some money.

ETA: On shade different, they could just compare the white shirts they are proposing to wear to ensure they are the same color.

All the same! Also, the GM shirts should match your dress. We were told since my dress is ivory, the guys should wear ivory shirts. Otherwise their bright white shirts could make my ivory dress look "dirty." Just something to think about! Regardless, all the shirts should be the same!

Depending on how formal your wedding is, I think you can just ask them to wear a white shirt they already own. FH was a groomsman recently and all the GM were asked to just wear a black suit. He and I commented to each other that it was going to look so weird when everyone was in a slightly different shade of black, but honestly? It looked perfectly fine.

Unless the groomsmen stand literally chest-to-chest, nobody will be able to tell the difference between two different whites.

I think any white dress shirt is fine. Just make sure that you specify that it is long sleeve or short sleeve. As long as they all have matching vests and ties, the shirts won't really matter.

We only have our Man of Honor and Best Man (and the groom of course), so no one *really* had to match. We are just going to buy them their shirts if they get us their measurements in time to have them made.

Torn on the white vs. ivory thing since my dress is ivory, but am warming up to the ivory vest over white shirt idea at least for FH. I kind of just want it taken care of already!
