Grocery Store Floral

Sarah, on October 30, 2015 at 5:25 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 10

Hey all! I'm thinking about having Kroeger do our flowers. I plan to go in tomorrow to meet with their floral manager (she confirmed yes they do weddings). Any photos of your or recommendations for this meeting?

Note that the Kroeger is only 1/2 mile from our venue which is why I'm thinking them. I've also thought about doing online, but just sending someone to go pick them up quick seems like it might be easier.

I would assume that through a grocery store you are going to have a more limited selection. I would start by seeing what is readily available in June and then pick the most basic ones such as roses. I'm doing a grocery store as well (Whole Foods) but I'm literally going in the day before and just buying whatever they have and making it myself. Flowers aren't super important to me.

You can ask and see if they've done any weddings before. The only thing is it's not guaranteed that you'll get the same florist for your wedding. Ask for references maybe, or take a look and some other arrangements that they've made. If you have any inspiration ideas, bring those. Be sure also to have a contract with them once you decide on what services you will be getting.

I originally was going to go with publix for my flowers. I showed her the same flowers I showed my current florist and she told me she just needed to know a month before so she can order everything. The only reason I went with the florist is because she gave me a great deal.

I bought Kroger flowers and did them myself. I bought Thursday evening, arranged them early Friday morning and took them to our venue Friday afternoon for Saturday. I thought the quality of their selection was great. For an October wedding I bought white roses, mini pink and fuchsia roses , mum bouquets and Gold mums. These aren't professional arrangements but gives you an idea of the quality of the flower at the time I bought them.

I plan on Using HEB here in Houston. They have told me they can do

Anything a regular florist can do at a fraction of the cost. The arrangements I have seen in store and in pictures have been amazing. I'm excited! Hopefully everything goes well at your meeting.

I just did all my flowers from Marianos. It was amazing - they looked great! And they were only $130.

Grocery stores will do a good job if you aren't locked into specific flowers. You won't get your dream bouquet and it won't be delivered, but if flowers that are good enough work for you, then go the budget route of grocery stores florals.

As a follow up I met with the florist (with some inspirations photos in hand) and she will call her wholesaler and will see what she can come up with. My $300 budget (for my bouquet, FH's, 3BM's, 3GM, 2hostesses, 2ushers, 4 parents, toss bouquet, a 2 memorial flower bouquets) sounded totally do-able to her. She can keep the flowers in the refrigerator there ready to go until the morning of to prevent any chemicals from food in my fridge. I can't wait to see her pricing and her book! Thanks all for the advice. Smiley smile
