Great Grandmother as Ring Bearer

Delia, on March 10, 2019 at 9:38 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5
My wedding is 6 months away and the parents of my ring bearer just told me that they are going away the weekend of my wedding (beyond upset). So, I thought of a cute alternative to have my great grandmother (102 years old by the way) be my ring bearer. My daughter who is 4 will be my flower girl. I figured I would show the importance of the 5 generations of women in the family. Now, do I call my great grandmother a ring bearer or should I call her a flower girl? Is there a better title to give her? Not sure! Any help would be great.

Maybe she could be a page although they traditionally held up the brides train. Ring page, ring escort, ring attendant, ring carrier, ring porter.

I think it would be fine to keep the title of ring bearer

Ring bearer isn’t gender specific, if she’s holding the rings, call her a ring bearer.

Very sweet gesture. I think the title "Ring Bearer" is fine.

Ring bearer, or Matron of Honor, as often MOH or BM hold rings for one or both of the couple. My grandmother's younger sister, whom I call auntie and who is my godmother, carried ours as Matron of Honor. It was about honoring the generations in our family. One of my BM was my young cousin, my God daughter.
