Hi! So I had my wedding last weekend, and we had a bit of trouble with our caterer and I'm wondering about how to handle this after the fact.
We booked our caterer at the last minute, we were to have a grazing board and 5 staffed food stations. We paid our bill which included all the food and a gratuity fee of 22%, we're supposedly all paid up and ready to go. A couple weeks later she calls me and says we still have to pay for the servers. I balk, and she eventually admits that she just forgot to charge us and would see what she would do as far as getting us a deal.
So skip to now, after the wedding. I'd emailed her to let her know a few things: 1) the food went over great; 2) the layout was lovely although we were expecting a much denser spread based on photos she'd shown us; 3) she put strawberries on our fruit platter even though we told her there was a strawberry allergy; 4) she forgot the tea/coffee service entirely (but also I guess forgot to put it on the bill?); 5) please send the service invoice.
(Nb, she also bleeped the bed getting us plates/cutlery and linens; claiming I'd said I didn't need them when I said I did, then giving us very high estimates 3 days before the event that we declined)
OK so now she wants to sit down and rehash the event, and I'm dreading this and I'm not sure what to ask for. What does she owe me here? Keep in mind she still hasn't billed for the staffing, and I'm not sure how much it will end up costing us.
And, to the title of the question: Was the gratuity fee she billed us for intended JUST for her? Or would it be expected that she'd divide it between the staff that worked the event?
