Grandpas ring

TooSpicy, on May 11, 2017 at 4:16 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

My FW was really close to her grandpa, but he passed away a few years ago. I know it makes her upset that he won't physically be there on our wedding day. I have been brainstorming for months on how to incorporate a piece of his jewelry(his gold wedding band) into something she can wear on our wedding day. The only thing I can think of is wearing the ring on a chain under her suit. She isn't girly so a bracelet, earrings nothing like that will be fitting for her. She will be wearing a suit and toe for our wedding. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can incorporate the ring into a meaningful gift for her?

Maybe slide the ring into the final loop of the tie before making the knot. It will be seen by people and I think it is just a little bit different enough to work.

It might be the obvious solution, but can she just wear it as a ring?

The only other thing I can think of would be somehow incorporating it into a tie bar or cuff links, but I'm not sure how that would work.

Maybe slipped around the stem of her boutonniere?

Since she is wearing a suit, maybe it could somehow be incorporated into the boutiner?

I love Svetlana's idea of having it suspended from the knot of the tie. The only other thing I could come up with is to wear it like a pocket watch. You could purchase a gold pocket watch chain for her and she could suspend it from her hip so he is "walking" her down the aisle. You might even add the ring to one end of an actual pocket watch with chain so the watch is on one end, and the ring is on the other. If you did this you could engrave the watch so she has "all the time in the world" with him. Don't mind the hideous execution here I just wanted to give a visual for what I meant (the ring would go where the red jewel is).

Could she use that as her wedding band? Get it resized to fit her?

Hubby did this w/ his grandfather's ring. He will only wear it for dress occasions and got another one for day to day but it meant a lot that this was the ring we used during the ceremony.

I have a friend who wears her father's wedding band on her pointer finger. I think it's neat

I'm wearing my dad's wedding ring around my neck. I think it's a wonderful and very thoughtful idea.

Or what about putting it in a dressy handkerchief that goes in her left chest pocket, wrapping it in there, and wearing it that way? It's still close to her heart... (cheesy, I know, but sentimental.)
