Grandmother's handkerchief

Kelli, on July 23, 2018 at 12:12 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

Hi everyone,

My grandmother passed away a year ago. I am the last granddaughter to get married, so my cousin gave me the last two handkerchiefs that were saved for me. When my oldest cousin was married, my grandmother mailed her 6 handkerchiefs and said to take two, and to pass them along once her sister is married. My next cousin was married, took two, and saved the last two for me. It's extra special now that my grandmother has passed away. I would like to do something unique with one of them. I don't want to use it on my bouquet because I already have something for that.

Any ideas of what I can do? My grandma was very special to me, so it's important I feel like she's a part of my day.

Could you tack one to the inside of your skirt? That way it's removable and would be a keepsake.

Such a sweet tradition! Are you doing a memory table or board? If so, maybe drape her handkerchief over her picture. Maybe even have FH keep in his pocket to pull out for you if you get teary during the ceremony?

Yes, we are doing a memory board! That is a very cute idea of having FH keep it.

I'm wrapping my bouquet with silver ribbon, but I'm also going to pin the handkerchief my mom made for me over it in case (or when lol) I start crying. It's going to be loosely pinned so my MOH can pull the pin out and just hand it to me, or I can unpin it and have it in my hand during the ceremony. I know you said you already have something for the bouquet, but I thought this might be an option!

You can tuck it into your right sleeve or glove if you have that.

I never thought about making it into a flower! I might do that! Thank you!
