Grandma Flower girls

Martina , on May 22, 2018 at 12:32 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 12
Has anyone done this?
We are going to ask my SOs grandma to be out flower girl. I wanna ask her in a cute way but I’ve got no ideas!
She just lost her husband a couple months ago so I feel like this will lift her spirits.
Any ideas?
If you did this how did it go?

I've never heard of this, but it's your wedding so do what makes your heart happy.

I've seen at least one other bride on here have her grandma be her flower girl. I think it is sweet.

I love the pictures of this! They are so cute. Maybe a nice card and bouquet of flowers?

We are doing this! We are having 1 of each of our grandma's in place of flower girl and we aren't doing a ring bearer. We just gave them a call because they live a ways away. But one of them also just lost her husband this year so we are going to give her a locket with a picture of her wedding day as her wedding gift.

I personally dislike this idea. It always looks very infantilizing in my eyes

Yes I agree. She already has a role - grandmother.

I think honoring her is the way to go. I guess each person has to decide how to do that.

This is so cute! And what a way to cheer her up. Love the bouquet idea, particularly because right now is such a good season for fresh flowers, as we're coming out of the winter months and everything is starting to bloom.

My thought as well. We infantilize the elderly in so many ways already, this just seems to be taking it a step further. I guess it would depend on the person how they would feel about it.
