Grandfather's Dance.

Makayka, on August 15, 2017 at 5:00 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

So I am not having the traditional "father walk me down the isle" kind of ordeal. I am having my grandfather do it. That being said, i am also not having a father daughter dance, but dancing with my grandfather. But i am having trouble finding the right song. We are having a country/garden themed wedding. Yes we are all from California and Washington, but we all have a very southern small town mentality. Can anyone help with song ideas?

I think any typical father/daughter song would be appropriate for grand daughter/grand father as well. You're ultimately looking for something that emphasizes familial or platonic love as opposed to romantic love.

For what it's worth, I chose Wildflowers by Tom Petty

Every song that i liked all says daddys little girl, or fathers world. Or something of that sort. My grandfather has been my only real constant father figure in my life. But he clearly isnt my dad and i dont really want the song to portray that. my bio dad is invited and i know it is already a slap in the face to not walk me down the aisle and to not participate in any of the fathery things that happen in a wedding, and i dont want to make it any worse because after 21 years my father and i are finally starting a new relationship.

Dan + Shay: Ground Up starts out "Grandma and Grandpa painted a picture of 65 years in one little house. More than a memory, more than saying I do...." Thinking about using this one at mine with my Papa.
