Grand March Songs

Carlee, on March 28, 2019 at 10:08 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 10

Hi All! If you are doing a Grand March, what songs are you going to use? Are you doing one for your bridal party and a separate one for you and your FH?

The wedding party usually lines up outside of the reception hall as guests are being seated for dinner. Then the DJ introduces each couple as they walk in and there is a fun up beat song playing for them to dance too or whatever as they are walking to the head table. And then usually the DJ will play a different song and introduce the new "Mr & Mrs" to walk in too.

Ohhhh, ok...I have heard of this, I just never heard it called that before, lol. I just always called it the Grand Entrance (into the reception), haha, but I guess there isn't much difference in the titles. I still haven't picked a song for this yet, and still don't know if I want to use one or two, lol....for some reason this part has been hard to decide.

Grand entrance and grand March are two completely different things. Grand entrance is when each member of the wedding party is first introduced and then the bride and groom as they enter the reception. The grand March is an orchestrated dance led by one couple in circles and twists and turns and usually done to the best if a slow polka. The March includes the bride and groom, parents of the couple, the wedding party and whoever else is invited to join in. It can last up to 30 minutes depending on how many people participate. At the end if the March, when all participated are in a circle, the bride and groom share their first dance, then the father-bride dance, then the mother-groom dance.

Yes Janet, you are correct. The Grand Entrance is an introduction of the new married couple and members of the bridal party. The Grand March is a group activity for all guests lead by the married couple and called by a designated caller. It's so much fun and gets people to mingle and get to know each other. It has gone out of favor in this area as demographics have changed. I was able to convince my daughter and now SIL to add this to their reception. It was a hit everyone had a hoot of a time. It took the DJ some time to get the music together and to find someone willing to learn the calls. Was well worth it.
