Grand exit?

Madison, on May 25, 2019 at 9:04 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8
We wanted to do a sparkler grand exit from our wedding reception. Our reception starts at 5, and parent dances, the anniversary dance, first dance, etc. will go until 7:15. Our photographer wants to do the exit at 7:30 so she can be done at 8. Is it weird to come back into the reception after the grand exit? I just feel weird leaving the reception at 7:30 after only 15 minutes of the dance floor being open.

IMO, yes. "Exits" when the party isnt over yet, just for pics, are weird for the guests to day the least. If your photographer is leaving early I'd just skip it. We didnt have a grand exit and I didn't miss it at all cause all our other pics are amazing.

I agree with PP - this would confuse me if you came back to the reception!

Our photographer left before our sparkler exit. At first I regretted letting him leave (he told me he had plenty of shots and wasn’t get much else, which was probably true at the time but forgot about the sparklers at the end). But now I’m just like 🤷🏼‍♀️. Out of the whole night, that particular part was far from the most important. And people got videos and pictures on their phones. Doing a sparkler exit before the end of the reception would throw me off. As a guest I would probably leave after that, because I would think it’s over.

Hey Madison! I agree with the pp's. It may throw your guests off if you 'exit' so early in the reception.

Would you be able to ask a family member or a member of your wedding party to capture a couple of photos on their phone/camera for your grand exit? They would not be professional but you would still have the memory and photos of it.

Thanks everyone! I agree, it would be weird to leave early. I’m just going to encourage people to take photos and videos on their phones, and not have it photographed professionally.

I think it's strange, but would probably save a ton of money not having the photographer there until the end. That's a tough one.

I guess this is too late but for other couples contemplating this our photographer suggested a staged exit with your wedding party. Take a few moments away and get some really cool pics, then head back to the party!
