Grand Entrance... BUST A MOVE!

Kayla, on April 16, 2015 at 11:50 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 17

So I really want to do a fun grand entrance and have each member of the bridal party do something creative when introduced together (especially FH and me!). Here are some of the things I've seen that I DON'T want to do. Has anyone seen something that is fun and not cringe worthy? Smiley smile

-Fish hook dance

-Water sprinkler dance

-pitcher & batter

-football players or other sports related things

-Everyone just wearing sunglasses and do their own thing

That is really difficult to do in a way that isn't awkward for everyone. I haven't seen it done well.

Sounds fun if your wedding party is into it

Like @purplekitten said, this is rarely (never) as cool as you think it is in your head, rather super awkward for your bridal party and guests. Play an upbeat song and just come in, trust us.

I personally don't think this is a very good idea. My bridal party would laugh at us if FH and I told them that they had to do something quirky and awkward when they entered. Don't make your entrance awkward for your BP or your guests.

The only time I've seen that kind of grand entrance done "properly" was a wedding of 200 people and 75% of the guests were in their 20s and college students who had that kind of humor...their older guests weren't too amused by it though

I enjoy seeing Grand Marches like this because I think it shows some of the wedding party's personality!

At a cousin's wedding each couple was announced and they came out doing a little dance that each couple made up. All the BM were wearing scrub tops (bride is a nurse) and the GM were wearing football jersey's (groom's alma mater & a big 10 school).

If you do a dance or something like that, encourage your BP to keep the choreography simple! You don't want pictures and video to show them concentrating too hard!

I was just at a wedding where the BP formed a long arch tunnel thing for the bride and groom to enter through into the reception space. It was kind of cute, except there was like 8 on each side and it was way too long... all in all, maybe just play a fun song and leave it at that. I don't think there's a good way to do this and have it not be awkward.

I wanted to do the Harlem shake. It was veto by the FH and the wedding party.

I can't stand this type of thing. It's very awkward and annoying.

@Kayla I posted something about a choreographed dance yesterday and it seems most people are against doing something like this, but I say if your bridal party is down to do it then go for it! It's your wedding you only get to do it once! Smiley smile

My bridal party did the tunnel thing, I didn't ask for it it just happened but really didn't change anything we just walked under their arms.

It's almost always cringe worthy. I saw an entrance on YouTube where each pair entered to a different song, and had to do that specific dance. It was awful, slow, and no one looked like they were having fun. I actually stopped watching because it was taking so long. My son kept on, and said they ended with the Harlem Shake for the bride and groom, and then the BP joined in, and the guests looked bored and unimpressed.

Every wedding I have been to here in chicago has had some sort of grand entrance dance and everyone has enjoyed it. I am yay on the grand entrance dancing, maybe not choreographed though. For my brother's wedding we came into a fun upbeat hip-hop song and we all did our own little dance and bride and groom just walked into gold digger by kanye. Everyone loved it. But I guess it does depend on your crowd/bridal party.

My niece had everyone wear sunglasses and did their own thing. It was fun to watch.
