Gown vote-off!

Rachel, on October 8, 2020 at 4:31 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 26
Okay, ladies... I’ve come to realize that I have a thing for dream catcher sleeves! Apparently that’s what these wider, looser sleeves on HP gowns are called. With that being said, it’s come down to these two... the Indi and the Lumi. I do love the Dalton and that gown is still a possibility, but it’s come down to these two gowns as well. I can’t decide! I’ve been in touch with the bridal salon that I’m going to and they’ve already added a note about both of these gowns in my file, but which one do you like better?
PS - I truly appreciate all of those who have been on this “gown journey” with me from the beginning and continue to offer feedback and comments. It’s so appreciated! 💖💕

Rather than seek opinions on tons of dresses on models, it will probably be much more beneficial for you to make a list of everything you like and go try them on! Hopefully you will know which dress is The One as soon as you get it on! If not, take pictures of each one, then go home and compare them, and decide which one YOU like best. The opinion of strangers on dresses on models isn’t going to help you at all. The way a dress looks on a model can be completely different from the way it looks on your body. You may end up only liking a couple of the dresses you are thinking about. And you may end up falling in love with something completely different than you had envisioned- and none of the dresses on your list! But, until you try them on, no one can really give you helpful opinions, because we cannot see how they look on you.

I absolutely have to agree with Chrysta, us looking at these pictures is like picking our fav out of a magazine, which is subjective to our tastes.

I "knew" the dress i wanted before I tried any on but never imagined it would actually work on me so I remained open minded. When the one I thought I would love actually worked on me I knew it was the ONE! I tried on 8 more dresses and none of those gave me that feeling. I have since cried at each fitting Smiley smile

Both are stunning and agree with the ladies above. What I did at every appointment was ask the person helping to pick a dress for me too! (Ended up being the one! She knew exactly what I was looking for but I couldn’t put it into words lol)

And I love the second one! It may be because I love sparkle and it reminds me of my star dress 😊

I don’t think anybody meant anything negative here. I believe this specific comment was made in complete honesty. There have been A LOT of HP gowns shown and gushed over, and the sites are known to have marketing departments crash them to advertise. I truly feel this person was voicing an honest concern, because everyone here wants to chat with other brides, not be spammed with marketing.
I know MY comment was not meant to be negative or hurtful. Mine was meant to be helpful. Dress shopping can be incredibly confusing and overwhelming. Which is why everyone here always suggests you take a small crowd shopping with you- less opinions to confuse, overwhelm, or frustrate you. I was suggesting she simply make a list of dresses she enjoys and try them on in order to narrow down what she actually likes on her body. Then, if there is still some confusion, or it is down to 2 or 3 dresses, she may find it helpful to post pictures of her wearing them in order to get honest feedback from others. But, getting tons of opinions from tons of people on tons of dresses is likely not going to be helpful- it will likely just further confuse.

And I certainly did not take your comment to be negative.

However, it seems this has helped Rachel in her decision-making process as she has found that she prefers HP gowns as she was posting other designers previously. She has also participated in and started topics besides just the basis of wedding dresses, etc. I think she’s having fun and just trying to engage others so she has a few dresses narrowed down for her appointments, which seems like it would be helpful to know what she prefers and she may need more input than others like yourself would. I know I for one had lots of dress confusion and with the help of other’s on this forum I was able to make decisions 😊

Honestly I just think it’s wise to move on if a conversation incites a negative comment or feedback that is going to potentially hurt someone’s feelings. But to each their own.

Agreed. Which is why I posted a follow up. I did not want the poster who questioned if it was a marketing team to be villainized or crucified for their comment when it seemed as though she was being completely sincere.

Hi, everyone! Firstly, no comments on this post were taken negatively. I just don’t always have the time to reply to every single comment ☺️ I know that I do post a lot of gowns on here, but a lot of the times it’s for fun and a lot of them don’t make my “must try on” list! I have about 5-6 gowns on my personal list that I’m considering trying, but I do love hearing feedback from others and just talking wedding dresses in general (even if they’re all mostly HP gowns 😂). Truthfully, I don’t have a lot of female friends (I’m a bit of a girlie tomboy, a lot of my friends are guys), so I enjoy talking with you all and hearing some opinions and feedback because I don’t really have this type of community in my daily personal life. With all of that being said, I’m going to take a mini break from WW for a week or two, there’s been some stressful things going on (unrelated to this particular post) and I need to just regroup. I may still post a little here and there but not as often. My fiancé and I are leaving for a mini getaway trip this afternoon and we’ll be staying at our venue. If I have time, I may post some photos! 💖💖💖💖 thanks again, everyone! Happy Friday and thank you for all of the commentary 💕

"it seems this has helped Rachel in her decision-making process as she has found that she prefers HP gowns as she was posting other designers previously"

Has it really helped her if she has narrowed her search to one designer without ever trying on a gown? She was all about Pnina Tornai when she started posting. What if there's a Pnina gown she would actually like, but she's shortchanged herself because she is determined to find "the gown" before she ever goes to a store?
