Gown alterations, payment question

This will most likely depend on your seamstress and what they require. I have seen it where the seamstress will want you to pay in full upfront and other times where they only require half down at the beginning and then the other half when you pick up your dress. I suggest you call the place where you're going for alterations and ask them their payment policies.

Since mine was at David’s Bridal and they literally did my alterations at the last minute, I had to pay the entire amount upfront. But mine wasn’t that expensive ($200).

Same. They gave us the bill after the first appointment but we don't have to pay until it's done and I pick it up.

I paid the total at the first appointment and I have a total of 3 appointments. They do a full assessment of what needs to be done.

I was given an invoice after my first appointment and I paid when I picked my gown up.

I went for my alterations first appointment and the seamstress didn't charge me at all. I will have to pay the full amount when I pick up the finished product to make sure I'm happy with the work

I think I had to put down $200 up front, but went ahead and paid for it all so I didn't have to worry about it later.

I paid at the first appt but was allowed as many appts as neccessary in order to complete the work outlined at the first appt.

It will vary. I had to pay 50% up front and the balance the day I took the dress home.

My first appointment was really an assessment of what needs to be done, which they then priced out and gave me an invoice for then my alterations payment was due in full at my next appointment.

It will depend, mine had me give a deposit (it was supposed to be half but she only had me do like 30%). She gave me a range of what the bustle will cost because it will depend on how many snaps or pins (can’t remember what they are called) she uses.
