Got my dress!! Veil or no veil?

Alexis, on January 14, 2020 at 10:26 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12
Ahhh I finally have my dress and I'm in love! Since we're on a budget, I decided to peruse Poshmark for dresses and found this discontinued one from Lulu's. Not at all what I originally pictured myself wearing (I wanted sleeves, crepe, and a little more modesty in the chest area originally), but something about this really spoke to me, and I could not be happier!

Now, for headwear, I was thinking of either a headband or simple tiara, but would that mean forgoing the veil? Would a pearl headband look good with this, or would pearls clash with the lace? If yes to a veil, what kind/length would look good? I couldn't get a good picture of the back, so I'll attach the pic from Lulu's. I also just plan to have a short haircut with loose curls, inspo attached.

Please excuse the background mess!Got my dress!! Veil or no veil? 1

I think pearls would look good with the lace. Personally I always advocate for veils! The style is really a matter of preference but I think an elbow/fingertip length would be really pretty, or if you’re into the more dramatic look you could do floor/chapel length! Very pretty dress!

I think a veil could really make it look more bridal and make it pop.

I'm really not into cathedral or chapel lengths personally, so your suggestions are perfect, thank you! I just know some veil lengths look better with certain styles. I tried a dress on, really liked it, but it only worked well with a chapel length veil or longer. I'm not against it, just prefer less dramatics lol.

Thank you! I just wasn't sure if it would look awkward with a headband or tiara and minimal hair styling.

I totally get that! My dress is really dramatic on its own so I’m also going with a shorter veil so I don’t feel like I’m overdoing it!

Thats similar to my dress...i am doing pearl accented earrings and a bird cage veil. So you could do a bird cage and a blusher with the short hair you envision.

I wore a veil only for some photos. I did not wear one during my ceremony because my dress had such an amazing back! So, if you are interested in any veil photos, that is an option.

Otherwise, if your wedding is outside, I say no veil. They tend to blow in the wind, pull on your hair, or get stuck to your lipstick. If you wedding is inside, I think it would be fine to wear for the ceremony and then remove for the reception.

Our ceremony is inside! And I'm more in love with the front than the back, so I wouldn't mind that. I just wanted to make sure it could pair well with whatever other headpieces I chose since the hairstyle itself will be minimal.

Oh no. For some reason I feel a veil just makes dresses look more bridal and any of those items would add a nice pop.

You sound like me! Are we distantly related by chance? Smiley xd

I'm having a similar struggle with my dress. I think a chapel or cathedral would work well with it, but it feels excessive to me and my style. On the other side of that though, I am looking at flower crowns and fascinators. I even have a feather veil headband favourited as we're trying to implement peacock feathers.

A fascinator could be an option for you, or you could get a simple birdcage veil.

Oh wow a fascinator would be interesting! Especially since we're getting married in Vegas, it kind of fits!

I like pearls with lace, I also would think a mid length veil would look nice with this dress. I personally do not like veils so if it is something you are into I recommend looking at greenery/floral head wreaths Smiley smile
