My friend used it to film video clips of my wedding. She gave them to me and wow they’re pretty high definition !

I don't see why not. You may get shots that you wouldn't get otherwise.

My DOC used a go-pro to capture our ceremony and first dance, since we didn't have a videographer, and the quality was pretty good!

What do you mean by leaving for people to use? It’s been a long time since I’ve been to one, but when I’ve been to weddings with disposable cameras on the reception tables people rarely used the cameras or you wouldn’t want what they did take photos of. Not everyone knows how to use a go pro. And a go pro could easily get scooped up by a dishonest guest or staff member. So it might be worth hiring a friend or extended family member or two to be in charge of the go pros, take video of special dances, speeches, candid videos and encouraging people to leave a video message for the bride and groom (if that’s what you’re after).

I would rather have a 2nd shooter or a videographer than 4 Gopros floating around my reception that I hoped people used.
