Good weather superstition

Heather, on September 14, 2016 at 11:00 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

Nearly at the 30 day mark! =] I heard recently that burying a bottle of bourbon upside down exactly 30 days before the wedding will ensure good weather for your wedding day. We're going to try it just for kicks and I thought I'd see if anyone else had any fun superstitions!

Update: We did it! We bought an $8 bottle of bourbon called "Kentucky Gentleman" (we were a bit low on cash at the time but whatever works hahaha) and buried it right at the spot where we're having our ceremony! (His family's land luckily) Poor FH had to work pretty hard to dig the hole since I wasn't very good at it (ha). We'll definitely be digging it up to take a shot of but luckily there will be better bourbon at the reception =] I'll update afterwards to see if it worked! Fingers crossed!

Never heard that one, but you'll have to tell me if it works lol. Hmm... any superstitions I know. Only one I know is a standard one, of not seeing each other before the wedding.

Do you get to dig it up and drink it after? If so, I'm down.

I think you should definitely get to drink it!!! You had to dig and "undig" a hole. I'm sure you're thirsty at that point. Haha!

Never heard that one, but worth a shot!

@elphaba I can get on board all those superstitions except the spider one.

I told my MOH this 3 years ago for her wedding...It was in May and she buried it exactly 30 days before. in the exact spot they were to get married (it was at her MIL's property), and right after the ceremony when everyone else went up for cocktail hour we all dug it up and that is what we did our first toast with....also, there was no rain on her wedding day!! (:

Interesting...though in my case FH would not ever let me bury bourbon lol. He might let me bury an empty bottle of bourbon.

Anyway, Irish traditions say it's good luck to tear your dress on your wedding day.

We did the bourbon! And yes, we are digging it up post ceremony and have shot glasses for the wedding party to take a shot! I've also heard putting knives in flower pots is supposed to bring good weather?
