Gold Dress--Ivory Veil?

taneisha23, on February 18, 2016 at 5:52 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

I've attached two pictures--the dress is my dress. It's what I've purchased (I'm going to add cap sleeves or straps because I don't like strapless). The picture of the veil is similar to what I have (length, decoration, color) but not exactly the same.

I had to buy the veil before I bought the dress...Essentially I went dress shopping too early, freaked out, ordered one from David's Bridal, found a better dress at Eva's Bridal of Oak Lawn (actually found it online first, then ordered it through Eva's), tried to cancel the order from David's and instead of losing my money I already put down I bought the only veil I had seen at any store that I liked.

NOW I'm very concerned that the ivory veil will look dumb with the gold dress.

What do you think? And thanks for the opinions/advice!

Have you had a chance to see both side by side?

I have seen both side by side... I think it looks dumb but I'm frugal, so I was wondering if I was alone in my concerns, lol. I don't want to have to spend more money on another veil (especially since my dress was way out of my budget)... but I also really don't want to look dumb.

and thanks nastassia for the compliment!

I love your dress. I would go all out. Maybe have a champagne colored veil with hints of gold trim or sparkle.

I wonder if there is a DIY you could do to change the veil so it's closer to the color of the dress. That would save you some big $$$

I think some other ladies on here have had success in dying their veil with tea to make it darker. Hopefully one of them can chime in with how to's/pictures

Honestly the veil wouldn't look right with that dress in my opinion. Can you take it back to DB or maybe sell it?

I don't think it would look good :-/ You will have the pics for rest of your life. I'd spend $200-300 to find a better veil instead of my pics looking funny :-/

    1. Return the veil and exchange for a matching one

    2. Sell it on a Facebook wedding site or consignment shop

    3. Chalk it up as a loss and get a new one.

Thanks for the input ladies! I'll probably see if I can make my own veil with some champagne/gold tulle (or whatever). Lol, wish me luck!

If it was a choice between ivory or white, ivory would work best I think!

Sounds like you're tied to wearing a veil, but have you thought about selling the one you purchased and NOT wearing a veil? The dress is stunning as-is and doesn't necessarily need anything else to embellish it (or you).

Haha, Audrey, you make a FANTASTIC point! ...I may just reconsider the whole veil thing. Thanks!

Not veil related at all but your dog looks like a young version on my old do Shyann. I didn't get her until she was 7 but I bet she looked just like that!

The veil will be very good with this dress, but ivory colour is not a right option...champagne will be nice I think!)

I think that's probably your best bet! Pure white would look too stark, and I feel like a gold veil would just look like it was yellowed.

Could you do some white accessories? Like a gold bracelet with white accents or a gold and white hair pin? And maybe white shoes? That way you wont' have to worry about dying it or making one of your own. Your dress is amazing, btw!!
