Godmother's dress...why?

My mom found hers at jcpenny and she was glowing in it. She is plus size as well and stuggles with something flattering. But there were a lot of options to choose from.

And listen, Future Mrs. D., I just have to say that I think you're a total sweetheart. You remind me of my daughter. I have a sister who has the money, taste, and flair to show up at every wedding (and backyard BBQ) looking like she just walked out if a couture catalogue. Whenever I see her, my tailored black suit and slightly sequined blouse suddenly seem so understated. The truth is I probably wouldn't feel comfortable in her clothing, but still, something in me thinks, "What if?". So, with a family wedding about to happen in the next few weeks, my daughter is on the hunt for something amazing. Her number one rule -- it cannot be black, lol.

I was thinking maybe silver for her, doesn't have to be royal blue. I just want her to look pretty because she's really never felt pretty her whole life. Shes so excited about my wedding and I want her to have an amazing time and feel amazing. Yea its my day, but I care about my moms feelings. Shes got the biggest heart and thinks of everyone but herself. I want her to shine a little too

I look at the dress your godmother chose and I'm like "really?" It's not a big deal. Your mom will find a dress she loves and it won't matter what your godmother wore.

That's such a none issue-- no one is upstaging anyone in that dress.

There are tons of other beautiful dresses to pick from for your mom and she'll look elegant and fabulous.

Find her that dress, but something Im doing for my mom that day is paying for her hair and make up. My mom wouldnt do it otherwise... so Im surprising her with it. so thats another suggestion if you want to help her feel amazing that day. ETA: I also agree your godmothers dress isnt all that.

@sailawaysomppi Thats a great idea! My ma would never do that. She hates spending money on herself. And yea, its not the best dress in the world but for what my ma had in mind for herself it crushed her a little. Ive been trying to get her to be a bit more daring with bling and thats about as much as shed go haha

FMD you could try something like this for your mom? I was just looking at the MOB dresses on Azazie and was thinking "that would have looked amazing on mom" (my mom was plus sized as well), maybe it would look good on your mom?

@shropshire2davis I saw that one too! Definitely one of my favorites. It would hide her arms perfectly without her sweating up a storm in a short sleeved jacket. Thanks for sharing!
