Go fund me?

The more we seem to plan the higher the cost is, I would like to ask for opinions of starting a go fund me page for my wedding.

I’m not trying to be rude, but that’s a little tacky and I think it takes away from the real reason go fund me came to be. If you are having a wedding, it is up to you and your future spouse to pay for it. If people offer, that’s another thing entirely. If you begin a go fund me and plan to ask for gifts as well, it is incredibly rude to your guests. If I may suggest in lieu of a registry, doing a honeymoon registry to help with the cost of your honeymoon? This has become big in the last few years and the way it is set up is very cute. Good luck

We are doing the honeyfund for our honeymoon, which is an acceptable form of crowd funding (it’s in lieu of gifts). My fiancé and I are still budgeting for most of the costs ourselves, so anything we get would be a bonus. So I think it’s fine if you want to do a registry for Disneyworld.

No GoFundMe. Have a registry on your wedding website to include items that you’d like for your wedding such as flowers, cake serving set, or honeymoon fund that people can purchase or contribute to.

Hey Brianna, you have a few options. You can:

    1. Save for a bigger wedding, so in this case, you can push the wedding date back.

    2. Have a courthouse wedding with just you, your partner, witnesses and maybe a few fam and friends

    3. Elope with just you and your partner.

But a Go Fund me page isn't supposed to be used for weddings. Only emergency situations. Also, it is not polite to ask for guests to help fund your wedding. If people offer, well that is very different. But no one should really be paying for your wedding except you and your partner. Trust me, I know that weddings can be very expensive, but if you look hard, do a bunch of research, plan, plan and plan some more, it can definitely be a beautiful wedding. I wish you the very best, and congratulations. I hope you'll be able to sit down with your fiance and talk about your various options. Smiley heart

I would not do a go fund me for your wedding. I think people will see it as a negative. They will be giving you a present for the shower and the wedding itself anyway. If you can't afford a big wedding, which who can these days, go small and do something private.

Go fund me also takes a big percentage of money given.

I would suggest against a GoFundMe. BUT if a wedding is what you want and maybe you and your significant other doesn't need traditional wedding gifts like pots & pans maybe you could start a saving fund asking for donations from your inner circle in lieu of gifts.

If you are needing more affordable wedding options I would suggest public parks or a cruise! Cruise can double as a honeymoon and there are options for those who can't afford to cruise with you to still be there before setting sail.

HoneyFund is a great site for raising money for a honeymoon! That's what we are using (:

    Happy planning! Smiley heart
