Glow Stick Send-Off HELP

gamecock0207, on August 5, 2014 at 10:06 AM Posted in Planning 0 16

Our venue does not allow for anything that is not environmentally friendly, so no rice, sparklers, sprinkles, anything like that. our thoughts were to use glow sticks for our guests to use to send us off. does anyone have any experience with good or bad companies for these? or have experience using glow sticks as a send-off and it ended up just being a terrible idea?

I bought a ton of glow sticks from Dollar Tree. Found packs of 15 (I think) for $1.

You could also use bird seed. Not ideal, but environmentally friendly!

I think glow sticks would work well assuming the ceremony is at night and outside. I don't think they'd work well inside.

Our venue has the policy yours does with the addition of nothing they'd have to clean up afterward. We just decided to forgo giving out anything for a send off. Our guests can applaud and cheer, and that's really all we need.

We can't use bird seed because the venue says it is not good for the birds or other animals. we are going to be outside and it will be at night (around 10 PM). i have found a few glow stick companies but just do not know which one to use because we need something that is going to stay lit for about 10 or so minutes and will not bust on our guests.

We are doing glow sticks as well. Got 300 of them on amazon for $23. We are just gonna let people play with them all night, though- not just give them away for the sendoff. I think it will be cool on the dance floor Smiley smile

And glow sticks don't typically bust on your guests... I would not be concerned about that.

Future_Mrs_D thank goodness! Smiley smile i read a review on Amazon that said one lady had given them to her guests at a party and they busted and were a mess so that makes me feel a bit better!

Oh NO!!! I have never seen that happen! In middle school at one dance we purposefully broke them open... and as 13 and 14 years olds that was a ton of fun... but I would not worry!

And honestly, even if they DO break, the stuff inside is kindof invisible once it stops glowing Smiley smile But again, don't worry about it!!

I've seen people giving these twirl stick things and they look fun! They are just sticks with colored string on them that guests wave and it makes fun colors for the pictures.

Here are the ones we got! They come with those little plastic things so people can wear them as bracelets or twirl them in the air if they want!

I got glow bracelets (long, thin ones) at Michael's 15 for a buck, and I've never had any problems.

We've been to a wedding that did glow sticks and it worked really well. Also went to a wedding where they bought and made glow in the dark bubble mix which was really interesting

Cute idea. I think even the cheapest glow sticks will last six hours or so. We had glow bracelets for my bachelorette on Saturday and they stayed lit all night long, so the pictures are pretty cool.
