Glassware question

Jess, on June 21, 2016 at 6:19 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

We are doing a pretty intimate outdoor wedding (around 50 people) and are having a food truck as opposed to caterer. We are doing beer, wine, and sangria. My question is that we want to do glassware but won't have the means to rewash glasses. I saw the pic below on Pinterest and thought it was a cute idea. My local dollar store carries a variety of white and red wine glasses along with stemless for the sangria. Would this be tacky? We are pretty low key people as are our family and friends. I considered plastic but that's so wasteful and I cannot bring myself to drink wine from a plastic cup lol.

Is it going to be a self-serve bar? Otherwise the bartender should provide the glasses. As a guest, I rather drink out of a plastic wine glass than have to keep track of a glass all evening. What about the regular(tea, water, soda etc.) drinks what are you using for those?

I think I'm going to do a self serve bar. At least half attending are beer drinkers and I will have a variety of beers on ice in large galvanized tubs. Didn't really think my possibly 25 wine/sangria drinkers would warrant a bartender but I am totally open to hiring one.

And I was also intending to have at least 50 or more glasses so if they grabbed another no big deal. Pop and water will be in cans and bottles on ice also so I was going to skip glassware for those.

I think that if you do this you will need to make sure you have a far amount of extras. In case someone drops/breaks one or forgets where they left it.

With that many people, you may have to hire a bartender or get a beer/wine permit and extra insurance due to liability.

They make biodegradable clear "plastic" cups. They degrade in about 10 days after use, and are 100% safe for the environment.

That's another thing, it's outdoors and evening so I'm concerned about breakage and certainly don't want to have to worry about broken glass. That's where the plastic sounds better lol. My husband just keeps telling me I'm overthinking this.

I disagree on the glass vs plastic thing. I would much rather drink out of a real glass and keep track of it than use plastic. I was planning on doing this for my wedding. I purchased 6 glass beverage dispensers and about 400 glasses to do so. I ended up having to change my venue and resell everything I bought :/ Oh well. I also do not think a bartender is necessary for 50 people if you have beer, wine, and sangria.
