Glasses or no glasses

Caryn, on August 31, 2022 at 11:40 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

Is anyone wearing glasses on your wedding day? I wear my glasses every day, but I can go without them. I'm really torn about whether to wear them or not. My fiance absolutely does not care either way.

I think it comes down to two things:

    1. What will make you feel the most comfortable/confident on the day itself?

    2. When you look back on your photos in the years to come, how do you want to look?

If the answers to these two questions are different, then you have a big decision to make!

I wear both contacts and glasses, and I maybe wear contacts a little more often. For the wedding, I'm going with contacts. I could probably go without either, but I don't want to be squinting all day. Will you be able to see well enough without your glasses?

You can definitely wear glasses if that's what feels more like "you." I've even seen people get a special pair to wear on their wedding days. Another option would be to do a trial with contacts and see how you like them if you don't particularly want to wear glasses.

Another thing to consider is whether you want to wear a blusher, headband, or any other accessory that might be impacted by your glasses. There's also makeup and any potential glare from lighting to consider as well.

I prefer contacts but he likes me in my glasses. Which I can always take off for photos so I’m just gonna wear them !

I didn’t even think about the glare! Maybe I’ll bring them as backup if my eyes get tired during the reception.

Thanks all! My eyes don't do well with contacts and I'm not doing any sort of veil or headpiece, so that's not an issue. I stupidly didn't even think about the fact that I can just take them off for the pictures and wear them the rest of the time. My everyday glasses actually match my color scheme (burgundy)!

Since you won't be wearing contacts I would just ask a family member or friend to put your glasses in their purse and you can wear them on and off throughout the day. It would be fun to have photos with them and without them! Happy planning to you!

I will be wearing my glasses but I don’t have contacts… If I didn’t wear them I would be falling and walking into everything ! Although I think I will take them off for a few pictures 🤗

My FW and I both have horrible vision. She wears glasses every single day of her life and she's actually had the same frames for as long as I've known her. It would be weird if she didn't wear them on our wedding day... just like it would be weird if I showed up WITH glasses (I wear contacts every day). Do what makes you feel your best, but if glasses are a part of your every day look, I don't see any reason to take them off.

My eyesight is too poor to go without glasses and I'm unable to wear contacts these days due to one of my medications making my eyes so dry!

My plan is to wear contact lenses for the ceremony and formal pictures (so about 2 hours in total which I will be able to manage with copious amounts of eye drops lol) and then switch to glasses for the rest.

I think as day-to-day glasses wearers they are part of our identity and so I see no reason why we should feel funny about wearing them on our wedding day!

I would do whatever works and is comfortable for you.
