Glam Factory/Mary Kay Contest Scam?? "Ultimate Pampering Session"

erista, on February 18, 2017 at 8:06 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

Hi All!

I was wondering if anyone else has ever received an email from someone at "glamour bridal events" saying that they have been "selected as one of 20 brides and won the ultimate pampering session from the Glam Factory and Mary Kay cosmetics, a $20 Gift Certificate and a bridal goody bag."

The email looked a little "scam-y" to me, but I wanted to see if any other brides received anything like this before, or if it is legit.

Thanks in Advance!!

It's not a scam per se, but it's a high pressure sales situation. They will do your little "pampering session" and spend the whole time trying to convince you to buy their products. You weren't "selected;" they contact anyone who signs up. And it's nothing particularly special, either. You can always go to a Mary Kay rep and ask for a free mini-makeover.

I got something similar. It's like letting the people in the mall put makeup on you for free. Yes, technically you're winning something, but they're mostly selling something.

I have the same email , it went in the trash folder. It says my information was chosen from my registry at Amazon. I don't have one at Amazon so there's that

It's a sales pitch. Many brides get the same email.

Might be worth noting, I think mine is because I gave my info to David's bridal. I'm 80% sure it was them who shared my info with vendors. So I went somewhere else for my dress.

Yeah, they most likely got my info from David's Bridal as well. Thank you so much everyone!! You saved me a horrible day of hard sells and annoyed bridesmaids. Lol. Happy planning!

After I attended a bridal show I got an email saying the same thing! I thought it was a scam too but I ended up calling the number and it wasn't a scam but it wasn't anything special. A sales rep comes to your house and gives you a "mini makeover" with the products but they barely do anything. When it said "ultimate pampering" I was super excited and thought it was gonna be something major but I was completely disappointed

It's not necessarily a scam, but it's a selling tool. I happen to like MK products, but I dont' buy them because I can't deal with the tactics.

I got them after attending a bridal show. I just trash them.
