Giving my phone to my coordinators?

Caitlin, on October 17, 2019 at 12:59 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 4

Hey ladies!

Quick question -- so while we have a DJ for our cocktail hour and reception, we did not have him do our ceremony music. We have crafted two Spotify playlists that are downloaded on my phone (so they can play without buffering), one for music to play before the ceremony starts and the other has all the songs we're using for walking down the aisle. My question then is about giving my phone to my coordinators. I'm not a trusting person and this makes me nervous -- I have an iPhone XR so I'm going to turn off the passcode/FaceID for unlocking. I'll leave it on for my banking and shopping apps and all that. But I guess I'm not comfortable leaving my photos and messages out there for them to see, if they get nosy. Is there a way around this that I'm not thinking of?

I have a SUPER old Nook tablet that has Spotify that I could potentially clear of any personal data, but I don't know that I trust this old hunk of junk to work reliably.

I completely understand your hesitation—your phone has all of your personal information, and information you may not want people to be able to see on it.

Since you have an iPhone, you can use a feature called “guided access.” It basically locks your phone to one app, and you can’t exit that app to the rest of the phone without a passcode. I work with kids who love to pick music on my phone, and guided access locked in to Apple Music works like a charm with them.

Lastly, I’ll add—your coordinator is a professional, who (if she has any kind of sense, which I’m sure she does) wouldn’t risk her career, livelihood, or professional reputation for a glimpse at someone’s photos.

I did the same thing with our ceremony music. Honestly, it wasn't that big a deal and I'm not the most trusting person either. I just handed my phone to my sister to run the music and trusted she'd be too busy paying attention that she wouldn't do anything bad with it. She actually ended up taking pictures with my phone which was a nice surprise.

You can find guided access by going to settings > general > accessibility and scrolling all the way down.

Ok, you ladies are fabulous! I didn’t know guided access was a thing. I gave it a shot and it worked perfectly. Thank you!
