Giving away floral centerpieces?

ShortStack, on August 3, 2016 at 6:33 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 10

Have any of you given away your floral centerpieces at the end of the wedding? I've seen pictures with signs saying you're welcome to take this and I've been thinking of doing something similar. I got a quote from my florist today and while it's small in the grand scheme of things, I can't help but think that we are spending money on something that is just going to get thrown away. If you have done this is there something you put on the table or how did you let guests know? Thanks!

This is very common in weddings I've been to before. DJs usually make the announcement, sometimes there's a game to win them (pass the spoon around the table while music plays, when it stops, the one holding the spoon wins the centrepiece).

Apparently, it's very common in a lot of circles to give away or even just expect guests to take centerpieces. I'm sure you could make/get a cute sign or make sure the message travels word of mouth during the reception.

I had no problem. Our parents and siblings grabbed them up and took them.

I was thinking of making a small sign in a frame that says something like "whether you need a cheery pick me up or know someone who does, please feel free to take this centerpiece home with you!"

ETA: Also, thank you! Smiley smile

As long as no part of the centerpiece belongs to the florist (vases typically) you can do what you want with them.

This is very common where I'm from and since ours are DIY wood vases that will be filled with flowers I'm excited people will take them because they are Gorgeous

    GTTC, stop scooping me, lol!

It's really common, but make sure the vases are not just rentals.

People have taken the centrepieces from practically every wedding I've been to and I've never seen a sign. I think it's just very common (at least where I am) that the only time people didn't take them was because someone made an announcement not to because they were rented.

My DOC is taking the centerpieces (minus the rental vases) to a couple of senior centers in town. I'm glad others will get to enjoy our flowers!

You can also donate them to local hospitals or nursing homes!
