Gifts!

Ruby, on August 6, 2019 at 9:41 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

So I know they're not mandatory but they're something I really wanna do!

For the guys we've got them socks & flasks! Including my Dad & his. For my Dad I was going to order a patch for his tie. I'm not sure if we're getting his dad anything else

For his mom we got a "Best F****** Mother In Law" wine glass

Yet for my mom I'm completely spacing

I'm getting robes for my girls but don't know what else. I was debating about a passport holder. All except one (who's getting one) has a passport. All of them like to travel/have plans to travel out of country. So I didn't know if that would be good or if it was kinda lame. I didn't really just wanna do the basic tote bag

I also have no clue what to get the ring bearers (3 & 14) or flower girls (3 & 11)

You should take their own personal interests into account when deciding on gifts. A unique gift that caterers to their personality is always better than the same generic gift that you're giving everyone else. What does your mother enjoy? Jewelry? A mani/pedi gift card? As for the children, ask their parents what they're into at the moment. Do the smaller children like specific types of toys? Maybe a Build A Bear gift card? The 11 and 14 year old could be into music, makeup, etc.

I personally think gifts should be mandatory since parents & wedding party do so much for weddings.

I love the passport cover idea. I don't have one (wouldn't think to buy one) but would love to be gifted one. We gifted each bridesmaid a getting ready outfit (they picked among a few options), a tote, a water bottle, a pair of socks, a letter from me, and we paid for their HAMU (if they wanted it done) and a chair masseuse on the day of. Each groomsmen got a tie, pocket square, pair of socks, multi-use wallet tool, and a whiskey glass with their initials. My dad got a picture frame, letter from me, tie with tie patch, and a pair of socks. My fiance's dad got a pair of socks, letter from me, and a tie clip. My stepfather got a tie with tie patch and letter from me. His mother got a handkerchief, bracelet, letter from me, and we paid for her dress and makeup to be done. My mother got a wine tumbler, letter from me, and ring dish. My fiance's stepmother got a necklace and letter from me. My fiance also wrote letters to his father & mine, and my mother & his.

What about a luggage tag? Since they like to travel, you said.

I bought my mom and MIL matching gifts. They're each getting a Willow Tree figurine (Mother/Son & Mother/Daughter) and a frame that had a sappy wedding quote on it. We aren't having a traditional bridal party, so I am also paying for them to get their makeup done. We got our flower girl a personalized wood jewelry box from Etsy. I will be filling it with play jewelry, lip balm, hair things, etc. You could also do a makeup bag filled with their favorite things. Hope this helps!
