Gifts

My FH and I Live in florida and are having a separate wedding ceremony and reception since most of my family lives in florida and can’t travel and most of his family lives in california and can’t travel. When do we send out the registry/ask for gifts since these events are going to be a year apart and we are planning on moving to california before the reception?

I should note we were going to be asking when we send out invitations to the reception but I have family asking about our registry now...

Never. You never send a registry or ask for gifts.

I’ve seen that some people include their registry on invitations and some include it on bridal shower invitations. Its not that we’re /asking/ for gifts but most people give gifts for weddings and my family is asking about where our registry is because they want to give gifts.

You can put your registry link on your wedding website. If anyone asks for it, direct them to your wedding website.

Since you don't host a shower for yourself, registry information would be included on those invitations. You never include registry information on your invitation - that's rude. You can include a details card *with* your invitation with your wedding website details, and include the registry on the website. Otherwise, this should be a word of mouth kind of thing.

I recommend you include the registry info on your wedding website.

Gifts should never be asked for. Also, a registry should not be included in a wedding invitation. Registry information is best put on your wedding website or on a bridal shower invitation. Regardless of the timing of each reception, each guest can access your wedding website at anytime and see what gifts are available. Just make sure you register for enough items.

I recommend putting up a registry on your wedding website, while it is seen as impolite to ask for gifts, there's nothing wrong with having a wedding registry, especially when your guests have no idea what to get for you.
