Gifts for singer and pianist?

Jessica, on April 8, 2009 at 11:41 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 3

Our church has two pianists who regularly play for Mass; one is also the music coordinator, and usually people who want a pianist for their wedding will fill out paperwork that includes the cost of using the church and also another fee if you want her to play for your wedding. However, the other pianist was my grade school choir director and so I've asked her to play for my wedding. I feel like it would be weird to pay her, but would I look like a cheapskate just to give her a gift? And what would be an appropriate/nice gift?

We have also asked a friend to be our cantor (singer) at the wedding. I know people sometimes hire one, but again I think it's more appropriate to just give her a gift. What would be a good gift?

Thanks!

Just ask them what their fee is, and see what they say, If they say 'hey..it's free!' I would thank them very much, and give them a gift with a very nice thank you note attached!

Oh, I forgot to mention the gift. Something homemade is always nice, a basket of assorted baked goods, or if you're more interested in buying something, a pretty picture frame w/ a picture of the two of you (if you have one, if not get one taken at the wedding), Assorted fancy bath things, like bath salts, bath bombs, etc, you can even get bath stuff that smells like delicious chocolate...

Hi, I'm Nancy and owner of Prayfully Yours. I write Specialty cards that are either a great supplement to a small gift, or the gift itself. The process is easy. All you need to do is to tell me some memories or cherished attributes, etc and I'll write a card just for them. Each card comes with a Scripture card insert and envelope. Please visit my site on weddingwire.com or www.prayfullyyours.com or email at ************@*****.*** I hope I can be of service to you. Check out my April special. Thanks
