Gifts for Parents

Is the bride supposed to buy gifts for the groom’s parents or can we do joint gifts for parents?

It’s customary but not required for the bride to give a gift to her parents and the groom does the same with his parents. But some couples don’t give any gifts and that is fine too. It’s mainly done because the bride’s parents foot the entire bill of the wedding and the couple doesn’t finance their own wedding. If the couple pays for everything themselves then a gift for parents is completely optional.

I’m not sure what we’re doing yet but the gifts to each of our parents will be from both of us.

You can do this however you want! My husband got his dad a nice stainless steel drink koozie. I got his mom and my mom clutches from Etsy that has a message from me on one side, and a photo of me as a baby on one side for my mom, and a photos of my husband and his brothers when they were kids for my MIL.

Once we get photos back from the wedding, we plan on ordering nice prints and gifting them to each parent.
