Gifts for parents of bride and groom

Ciara, on July 29, 2021 at 12:58 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9
I’ve been reading online that usually the bride and groom get gifts for their parents and gift them at the rehearsal dinner or morning of the wedding. I have asked around and no one has done this so far. Is anybody getting gifts for their parents and if so, what are you getting them? My fiancé’s dad is one of the groomsmen so he will be getting a gift, but I dont want my parents or my fiancé’s mom to feel left out.

Some people wait until after the wedding photos come in and gift their parents a nice framed photo of them on their wedding day.

For us, I think we've settled on getting ours a framed photo using Smallwood! I really like the idea of using a photo of FH and his brothers with each parent (divorced). Since he's the youngest and last to get married, I thought it would be sweet to use a photo of them when they were all little. I'd use a photo of me and my mom when I was little! After the wedding, I plan on getting another one made using a professional photo of us and them at our wedding.

I know I want to give our parents gifts, I'm just not sure what yet. I've seen a lot of people say they've done photo albums from the wedding day. I think that's a good idea, but I want something to give them the day of or the day before the wedding. I was thinking wine, or gift cards, or possibly customized cutting boards.

You're welcome! If you go with that idea, I really do recommend Smallwood. I ordered a 13x13 wooden framed photo of one of our engagement photos for my mom's birthday present and she loved it! She facetimed me when she opened it and it was really great quality, and they don't take long to ship!

Gifts for parents is a Hallmark thing that Pinterest ran away with. There is no etiquette that says they are required in any way. Most couples we know did not gift anything to the parents on the wedding day but they did give photo albums from m the photographer when pictures were printed.

We are gifting our parents because they all contributed to our wedding day. For the moms, we got them a pair of earrings in their birthstone. I'm not 100% sure on what we will do for our dads yet, but it'll be something they personally like and can use.

Im thinking the same thing, something small for the day of and albums afterwards as more of a thank you for all you’ve done towards this day type thing
