Gifts for Mother or the Groom

Amber, on July 31, 2019 at 10:20 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 9

How exactly does this work? We do not really talk to my fiance's parents just because they live their lives and we live ours. Do I get his mo a gift? If so what are some things I could give her? I don't know why but this has been stressing me out for weeks now.

I think it would be a nice gesture. We got our moms a necklace.

In general jewelery is the norm. It's a good generic gift.

Something sentimental is best for moms IMO, regardless of how much they are involved. We gifted my husband's mom a necklace from him that had a really sweet saying on it, and a picture frame from me that had a picture of him & her when he was little and a picture of me & her now, and it had a sentimental saying on it.

We only gave our parents gifts as a thank you for contributing to our wedding. If they hadn’t, we probably wouldn’t had done anything. Our gifts were from us together from them together. I don’t think it’s necessary to gift if they’re not contributing, but it’s always nice to give & get gifts, so if you want to— go for it. Still, I’d give as a couple. Jewelry or anything sentimental is fine, or if his parents are together, a gift for them as a couple would be another nice option.

We're giving our moms Alex and Ani bracelets and the dad a custom engraved decanter. But when do you actually give it? The day of the wedding?

We got her a water bottle with her name. Everyone else will get gift at rehearsal dinner. His parents don’t want to go to rehearsal dinner. So they are getting them probably this month when we go for his bday.
