Gifts for MOB / MOG

Jo, on May 11, 2018 at 11:05 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

Mother's Day is almost here, so we're thinking about moms, of course. Are you giving a gift to your mother on your wedding day? Do you have a gift for your mother in law? What are you giving them?

We will be giving gifts to both mothers at the wedding, we already got his moms, I am still deciding on my moms. For FMIL I ordered a beautiful necklace that has a poem with it.

We didn't do parents gift for our wedding two weeks ago, but H and I plan on taking my mom and stepdad out for a nice dinner since they paid for the deposit on our photographer, the rehearsal dinner, and gave us our honeymoon as a wedding present. For mothers day I got my mom a pretty bracelet and ordered flowers to be delivered to her at work. And I got my MIL a coffee mug that says something along the lines of 'Thank you for not putting my husband up for adoption, I know it must have been tempting sometimes.' Its a big joke that H was a very difficult child, but grew up to be a great man.

So I am being a little extra, I got these photo boxes from Michael's on sale, I have one for my mom, his mom, and my officiant/emcee for the night, and I am going to put a small candle, which I already bought, I will include a bath bomb, and maybe like a chocolate or nail polish, some pampering items, and I got personalized gifts.

For my mom she got a hanky, which is absolutely beautiful, and it's personalized. I got his mom this necklace that is personalized, and it kinda says something along the lines of you loved him first, and its really sweet. I just need the little things closer to the wedding for them, so they don't spoil.

For his mom I got the gifts Here

& My moms gift was from Here

I plan on using this Shop for little fillers, such as the bath bombs, and such. I've purchased from all of these etsy accounts and they are marvelous to work with, and the product is good!

We are having the hardest time with FILs. FH isn't very sentimental, and neither is his father. His mother is deceased, and his stepmom he isn't very close to. He actually only lived with his dad and stepmom for a few years during high school after his parents got divorced.

For my parents, I got my mom a bracelet, a painted wine glass, a personalized handkerchief and a Lenox mother and bride figurine (she's a big Lenox collector). I think I only got a personalized handkerchief for my dad. I'm not really sure what else to get him. I didn't like the father/daughter Lenox figure, and I just bought him a nice, engraved watch for his 75th birthday.

We are getting both moms gifts. I'm still sorting out exactly what it will be but, probably earrings for my mom and a bracelet for his. I'm also considering getting them each an embroidered handkerchief.

We will be gifting at the rehearsal dinner. My parents will be receiving a joint gift. As they are paying for the wedding, we are going to gift them a printed canvas from our engagement session, a hankybook for the wedding, and either a generous gift card to their favorite dinner spot or accommodations for a weekend get-away. That last part we are undecided because we need to see how much money we have in the bank around that time! For FH's mom (his father has passed), we are gifting her a printed canvas, a hankybook, and we are still deciding on another small trinket. I was thinking a nice, yet affordable, piece of jewelry.

My mom's birthday and mother's day are within 2 weeks of each other, so we will be combining celebrations this weekend! FH and I are definitely giving both of our mothers gifts from the both of us for the wedding though - not too sure what specifically yet, as they are both so different.

We gifted my mom with a 2 night hotel room so that she wouldn't have to travel over an hour one way to the venue for the rehearsal and wedding. His mom passed away last year. For his father I'm looking into getting him a nice dart set (one of his interests). My dad passed away 4.5 years ago.

On the day of the wedding we're taking our parents out to breakfast before we part ways to get ready.

I believe we have decided to get our mothers the Mother's Love necklace from James Avery and putting them in a box engraved with "Thank you for raising the man/woman of my dreams."

One of these (or similar), maybe different quotes. From Etsy, and the seller will write whatever you want. My parents are divorced but there are nice versions that can go as a joint gift if your parents are still together. ETA shop is PhotoFrameOriginals.

Yes, we are giving both hankerchiefs from me and bracelets from FH. I’m also planning to have nice pictures printed and framed to send it them afterwards.
