Gift

Char, on May 19, 2020 at 11:08 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6
So I recently got married and my best friend traveled 8 1/2 hours to celebrate and be in our wedding. She’s getting married next October and my husband and I are doing the same. Her and I have been best friends for 14 years. her mom passed away before her and I met. I want to get her a wedding gift from her mom, but I’m at a loss on what to get. She already has her wedding jewelry. I want it to be something from the heart. Any ideas?

Maybe a photo frame with a photo with her mom?

You obviously know your friend better than anyone here, but I would say tread lightly unless this is something your friend has mentioned wanting. My husband’s parents have both passed away (his dad when he was 1 and his mom when he was 18). He would be incredibly offended if anyone tried to gift him something “from his parents”, no matter how thoughtful the person was trying to be.

With that being said, if your friend has suggested wanting something like this I agree with pp that a picture frame might be a good direction to go in.

Is she going to have a bouquet? If she doesn’t have one already, Etsy has adorable tiny photo frames that you can pin to the bouquet so she can carry mom with her.

I agree with Nicole! The bouquet charm with a picture of her mom and maybe a message as a reminder that her mom is always with her would be (hopefully!) a nice gesture without being offensive or anything like that.

Oh yes definitely! It’s something we have talked about and she wants. I’m the only person who she talks to about her mother and her feelings when she has her moments, so she voiced to me that she would like me to make something from her. I love the bouquet idea! Thank you for making sure she was comfortable with it. I guess I wouldn’t have seen it that way if we hadn’t spoke about it previously

Is there anything that they used to do together? Baking or some other hobby? I'd try to personalize it that way.
