gift wrap option on online registries -- yay or nay?

FinallyMrsT, on March 30, 2015 at 4:01 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

Since registries are all the rage here tonight, I'm wondering how you ladies feel about the gift wrap option when ordering online. I would definitely not want guests to spend an extra $4 on something that's going to get recycled immediately (and probably doesn't even look that good)...at the same time, it is only 4 bucks. But it just seems so pointless when the gift box still arrives inside a regular shipping box! The argument could be made both ways, I suppose...How do you guys feel about it?

Full disclosure: I most certainly did not do the gift wrapping for the little things I ordered from some of your registries tonight, and I'm feeling a bit embarrassed. Hopefully, this trespass can be overlooked Smiley smile

Totally not necessary. The gift showing up is surprise enough. I've only gotten one gift via mail so far, and I looked at the packing slip so I knew what it was before I opened it anyway lol.

I have never used the gift wrap option.

I put on the registry that I would prefer to not have the gifts gift wrapped--seemed like a waste of money to me.

I always use the gift wrap option, but I wrap every gift I give so it only seems right to me lol.

I would usually prefer that someone saves the paper and the money and skip the gift wrapping, but when I received shower gifts in the mail I was happy that they were wrapped so they could be opened with all of the other gifts.

Oh good...I feel better now. I still feel bad that it's just kind of unceremonious, but not bad enough to waste the money and paper. Thanks, ladies!

My registry has a default "go green" option to set no gift wrap as your preference. The way I see it the gift is already "wrapped" in a shipping box. I don't need it wrapped in an extra box.
