Gift question

Jennifer, on June 16, 2020 at 4:17 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 7

My fiance an i are renting out a lake front mansion for a weekend. Do we still have to buy gifts if we are covering everyone's hotel cost for the weekend by renting out a mansion? In addition we are paying for brunch the morning after.

I think that's fine not to get gifts but if you did consider gifts then a welcome bag might be cute

We’re doing the same thing for our wedding for our out-of- town immediate family/ bridal party. We also opted to do tiny inexpensive gifts for our wedding party- for the guys, we got tie clips engraved with their name and donut socks (fiancé and all groomsmen are cops) off of Etsy and the bridesmaids are getting wine glasses with their names in them and a small bottle of champagne/ wine. They’re not super personal, but they’re things everybody will think are cute, and they honestly were not expensive at all.

That's very generous of you to cover the cost of their lodging and meals. I don't think a gift is necessary, I'm sure a handwritten note would be very appreciated!

Agree with PPs. A small welcome bag with a note would be very sweet.

I agree, I think you're totally fine with no gifts, but a nice note could mean a lot to them.

Favors and welcome bags are never required and many people skip them. You are already going above and beyond by covering lodging expenses.

Like others have said, you are very generous to cover everyone's lodging. A nice note would be thoughtful.
