Gift for reader

Amy, on March 18, 2013 at 11:02 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

We have invited my sister-in-law to be a reader at the ceremony. I had already invited her to the bridal party's mani-pedi spa session (part of the bridesmaids' gift). I also got my girls jewelry (designed by a jewelry designer friend that they can wear again) and a toiletries bag stuffed with survival kit stuff as well as on-the-go flats for the reception, heel protector thingies for their shoes, and toeless peds. In addition to the mani-pedi, should I get my sis-in-law anything else for being a reader?

Wow - I think that's a lot! My FH's daughter is our reader, and I got her an infinity necklace.

Hm... were not having a reader. i would think if you are giving he the same as brides maids gifts that would be adequate enough.

Wait is she a BM or just a reader? If she is a BM she doesn't get anything extra IMO. My brother is in our wedding and reading but is only getting what we already planned for him and the rest of the groomsmen. If she is just a reader iand you are paying for her mani/pedi then that is enough.

I didn't get our readers anything at my first wedding. Unlikely I will this time too. I hope that doesn't make me a bad person.

My bridesmaids are getting the mani-pedi, the jewelry, and the toiletreis bag with survival kit stuff. My SIL, who is going to be a reader, is going to get just the mani-pedi. I'll also write a personal thank you note to everyone. I was going to pay for my SIL to join us for mani-pedis anyway, though. Do you think I should get her something additional?

Just a mani and pedi and a note is operfectly fine! I'm getting my reader a bottle of alcohol or a gift card.

@Kadie depending on your relgigion it's usually the person who will read a bible verse or for non relgious weddings reads a poem or something of that nature.

We decided not to do anything extra for our readers. They're our aunts and don't expect anything.
