I would ask your FH what he might want, since he’s five. I’m big into experiences, so maybe a trip to the zoo or aquarium, or a mini vacation in the months after the wedding?

I agree with the pp. I think it's inappropriate to make vows to children. They are not old enough to understand the seriousness of what you consider a "cute" moment.

As with any gift selection, what are his interests? He will be most happy with something he likes now. You may be thinking of something more lasting. The two can sometimes be combined. If he's into Lego, you can get a clock radio that looks like a Lego brick.

My daughter was 3 when H and I got married. He gave her a necklace before our ceremony, and we both had language in our vows about putting our family first, but IMO it would have been super creepy if he said he was marrying her too.

The last wedding I went to, the bride did vow to love, support and care for her new stepson, which I thought was such a nice thing to do!
