Gift for my aunt and uncle?

Rachael, on February 23, 2015 at 4:14 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

I lived with my aunt and uncle for nearly

Half of my life (age 15-26). They are the ones helping me with my wedding (my mother lives 1200 miles away and although she will most likely be at my wedding we are not close at all, nor is she helping me with my wedding). I am having a VERY tough time figuring out what to give my aunt and uncle as a thank you. Many ideas im seeing online don't seem appropriate (I'll forever be your little girl picture frames, etc). If I were to buy them an overnight trip somewhere, it's likely that my uncle won't want to go. I Cannot think of an appropriate gift as they are my aunt and uncle and not my parents. I am as close to them as I would be a parent, they are the ones who took care of me all throughout high school and college. The only thing I can see them using is a restaurant gift card, but this seems very impersonal because I get them one for Christmas every year. Any suggestions?

I would get them a nice frame with a wedding picture, and take them out to a nice dinner to show your thanks.

A picture frame and let them know that you will have the photographer take a professional photo of the 4 of you together would be nice. In addition to that, you can also do a gift card for a nice dinner and maybe a bottle of wine. I feel like because you're so thankful for having them in your life, a letter expressing that would be good as well.

I agree with Kassy and FMC. I think a photo in a nice frame (maybe have it engraved or something with the wedding date), with a gift card to a restaurant you all like to be given with a heartfelt card. Before I went to college I left cards on my parents bed thanking them for all they did for me. This was 11 years ago and they still talk about it sometimes since we aren't a demonstrative family. So nice of you to be so considerate!
