Gift for Mothers boyfriend

Jessica, on June 8, 2017 at 8:50 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

Both my parents and my FH parents are divorced. My father, father in law, and mother in law all remarried. My mother refuses to ever get married again(which I support). We have already decided to list my mothers long time boyfriend in the program under parents, but are finding it hard to get a gift for him. It was easy for our step moms and his step dad because there is more of a family feel there, but don't want to exclude my mothers boyfriend. We are not necessarily close with him, but still want to make sure no one is left out when we are giving gifts at our rehearsal dinner. Has anyone else been in this situation and what did you do?

Do you have any specific memories with him? Maybe a nice engraved framed photo of the 3 (or 4 including FH) of you together would be nice. It doesn't have to be wedding related necessarily to be a thoughtful gift

I would gift him something even if it has a less significance feel. If he drinks beer a beer mug personalized, maube? Is he helping to pay for the wedding? If so, step it up a bit a pocket watch?

He's into computers, anime, and Korean television.

Can you ask your Mom what he might like? We have been stumped on what to get FH dad. FH is just going to ask him what he wants.

Do you happen to know what animes he likes? Does he collect anything related to his fandoms? (for example, I have some really cool collectors items like a set of dragonballs that I ADORE). Is he into conventions? Maybe buying him a pass for a convention would be super cool!

No need at all to buy parents gifts. Gifts are traditionally given to the WP only. You are giving gifts out at the rehearsal dinner? I've never heard of this? I am assuming EVERYONE there is getting a gift? If not, please don't give them out there-major breach of etiquette. If you really want to do this, and everyone is getting a gift, ask your mom. She'll have an idea for you. Just a note-if my girlfriend's daughter got ME a gift for HER wedding, I'd think it was a little over the top.
