Maybe a bottle of his favorite liquor? Or a gift card to his favorite restaurant? Or shop like you would for his bday!

Think about his hobbies or interests and get him a gift based around that.

Why are you giving him a gift? It is not traditional to give parents a gift, beyond photos after the wedding. It is not traditional to give them to any vendors, clergy, coordinators, or even SIL, the newest on WW to get an advertising push. It is not traditional to give gifts on proposing to brodeaods or Groomsmen. For your wedding, you receive gifts, for which you thank them. You may receive money from relatives or help with the wedding, and there the custom is that you never spend money on a gift to thank someone who gave you money. You should definitely write a note of thanks to those in your BP, and it is customary ( not mandatory) that you give them one substantial personal gift close to the wedding ( shop like it is their birthday, not a team gift.) No other gifts are usually given. Advertising pushes couples or brides to buy 10-30 gifts per wedding, to increase the profit of the wedding related industries. But such gifts have never been a part of weddings. ... No one will stop you, but you can honor these people on their occasions, not on yours.

I agree with this. A gift is unnecessary

I think a gift is unnecessary. Is he paying for your wedding?

A gift is for those who helped with the wedding. Unless he was significantly involved with planning, I wouldn't worry about it.
