Gift for mom

Stella, on August 1, 2021 at 11:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
Hi everyone,
So I’m searching for the perfect gift for my mom and sister on my wedding day. They’ve been absolutely amazing during the entire planning process and want to give them something nice to show how much I appreciate them on my big day. The tricky thing is neither my mom or sister drink, wear much jewelry or love shopping or anything pretty typical. I’ve tried googling ideas and looking on Pinterest but it’s all things along the same lines that they wouldn’t really enjoy. Any ideas/suggestions are appreciated!

Thank you all in advance!

What do you usually get them for their birthdays or the holidays?

The best gifts are rarely wedding related, because no one really wants someone else's wedding date emblazoned on their stuff.

Thanks Rebecca. My sister usually gets a gift card and my mom is whatever she feels she wants/needs at the time. They are tricky to shop for and definitely don't want to get them anything with our wedding date on it. I'm looking for something that they would love and want for their own purpose. I do like the idea of getting them something like what I would potentially get them for the holidays, maybe just not a gift card, lol.

Thanks Emilia, this is a great idea. I'll see if there are any reasonable and decent spas around my area that they may be able to enjoy. The one coming to mind runs about $400 for a basic package, eek.

When our daughter got married, she and SIL gave each of the four of us parents small personalized gifts (e.g., cuff links for the dads, embroidered handkerchiefs for the moms -- so nothing overly expensive), but what her dad and I found truly meaningful was that each of them separately wrote each of us personalized thank you notes.... They were so sweet and heartfelt, I will cherish mine forever. SIL's was especially dear to me -- they'd been together for 10 yrs, since early high school, and SIL practically grew up in our house. His own family is a bit dysfunctional, so when he wrote what it meant to him for us to include him in our family starting when he was 16, it meant the world to me. Yep! I cried pretty hard.... Smiley winking Smiley heart

Thank you so much for this! I’ve seen embroidered handkerchiefs and thought they were nice so it’s good to hear they go over well with MOBs. I’ve already been thinking of what to say in a card but am having a hard time putting it together so they can know how much they mean to me. These thoughtful gifts are the ones I usually prefer to give and will definitely look into this a bit more. Thank you so so much!
