Getting wholesale flowers for diy arrangements

Michelle, on February 10, 2020 at 8:38 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 5

We are going to hire a florist to do the wearables, but we would like to save money (and have fun) but doing our centerpieces and other flower arrangements for the reception ourselves. I have heard about getting buckets of flowers wholesale, but as I have been looking online, i don't feel like the options are all that less expensive than if we just paid to have these arrangements made. We want unusual flowers, not roses and such. Has anyone gotten/planned to get wholesale flowers and if so, what companies do you use. We are getting married in late June, which is kind of a lull between things blooming in our gardens or else I would just use things from our gardens, so i think we have to buy the flowers wholesale. If you have any experience with this, i'd love to hear your thoughts.

I am ordering ours through fiftyflowers.com and right from Sams Club online.

Trader Joes and Whole Foods also has great, affordable bulk flowers.

I'm using FiftyFlowers and Costco. I'll spend under $800 on all of my flowers for a 200 person wedding. I was quoted over $3k from a florist.

Thanks! Have you guys ordered through fiftyflowers before? I was interested in using them but am wondering how the flowers do during the shipping process.

This will be my first time but if you search fifty flowers in the discussions, other people have made review threads! From what I understand, it's a solid company. I'm using delivery for Costco as well. If you're going to have any garlands or more basic flowers (roses, hydrangeas, etc) I suggest doing a mix of Costco and Fifty flowers. The basics from Costco cost MUCH less but the variety at Fifty Flowers was much broader. Using both companies, I was able to cut my cost from $1080 (FF only) to $740 (FF and Costco) for the same amount of flowers!
