Getting rid of old Bridesmaid dresses

alyssa, on December 23, 2014 at 2:46 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

Besides Ebay, does anyone have any other ideas or tips to pass along in selling bridesmaid dresses? I have a few and would like to sell them versus just getting rid of them.

Donate them and take the tax write off. You'll probably get more for them.

Ehhhhh I dunno that that is true. The max write off, really is like maybe $50 for a very expensive formal gown. A $50 deduction if you're at a 28% tax bracket only gets you about $14 back and all of this depends on itemizing.

But....I do donate my old dresses because it's such a hassle to go through a site like that.

Craigslist--theater groups look for costumes on there.

Try a consignment store in your area. Bridal or non-bridal should work.

Janeen-- you're probably right, alas, I attempted to sell 10 of my bridesmaid dresses on ebay/craigslist and got super low ball offers...like $5-10 for dresses listed as about $50-75 (less than half retail which I think is fair for a dress worn once). I just got frustrated and gave up basically.
