Getting RID of BACK FAT!!!!!

toreno, on September 21, 2009 at 11:37 AM Posted in Planning 0 16

Please help....I need to know what type of exercises I should do to get rid of my back fat....I was told that if I wanted I could have my dress let out some which would eliminate the fat from hanging over but I really dont want to do that. I have a few months before my 1st fitting but I would like for it to be gone b4 then...so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My coworker (who's a workout-aholic) told me push-ups, cardio, and staying away from junk food.

Back fat is basically just that...fat. You can't really isolate exercises for that area because you aren't trying to tone up the muscles you are trying to lose the fat. The solution is simple (but hard to put into practice in reality). You have to burn more calories than you consume--so eat less or exercise more or do both. No one diet is universally better than another. I've got quite a few more to lose myself...

I highly suggest the weight watchers plan. Their system really does work. The main thing is to follow points - not to buy all their food, go to meetings, whatever.. if you can get the point info and follow that, you WILL lose weight. It worked for me.. I lost like 40 lbs several years ago.

Use sparkpeople. Its great for tracking cal intake as well as carbs and protiens. You do need to get a good mix. Make sure your carbs are whole wheat, whole grain and eaten early if at all during the day, stay away from white pasta, white bread and potatoes. Eat lots of veggies and lean meat. My favorite when I was doing the south beach plan was to mix salsa and a avacado, spread it on a large piece or leaf lettice and add a few strips of grilled chicken. You can make two or three of these and put them in a sandwich bag and take to work for lunch. The avacado looks strange after its mashed (kinda turns a bit brown over time) but its still good. Tuna was big life saver also. If your stomach starts to hurt because of lack of heavy foods like most of us are use to, try a glass of skim or 1% milk. But dont drink too much milk if you are trying to do the south beach plan, too much natural sugars.

I feel ya! I am 5'8" and weight less about 125 pounds and still have that back fat (and the armpit fat to match :o)--- I don't think eating less to lose weight is the only answer, but I will definitely try the back exercises!!! Oh, and to try to avoid that a bit, I added a slight v-back to the dress bc for whatever reason, it seemed to make the back fat problem less. Maybe it's just me, but it looked better than a straight across back~ If anyone knows any better answers, please post!

I dealt with the same & did push ups (mostly the girly kind) and walked/jogged/ran and tried to lay off the sweets (mostly sugar!!)

Good luck. try the push ups. I did about 100 a night and saw a difference in about a week or so!!

I am doing pushups & situps. Started at 10 a day and adding 1 each day, until I hit 30. Now doing 30 a day until I feel like I can do more. Also swimming 2-3 times a week, watching calorie intake and stop eating out as much, which helps with the $$ issues too.

I noticed I had some in my bridal portraits and freaked out too. So I hit the gym. And I had ZERO on my wedding day. My dress was actually a little loose. I did push ups and lots of weights. More weights than cardio. You just need to tone (weights) not lose fat (cardio). Do you have gym access? Use the machine where you sit and the bar is above you, pull the bar down towards your chest. Do 3 sets of 15 reps. Also.....Place your right knee on the exercise bench. Your left foot will remain planted on the floor. Place your right hand at the top of the bench. This will cause you to lean forward. Do not hunch your back. Hold the dumbbell in your left hand. Your arm should hang straight down.Draw the dumbbell upward toward your chest. As you do so, your elbow will point behind you. Lower your arm. 3 sets of 15. Hope this makes since and helps. YOU CAN DO IT!!
