Getting ready

I think it’s nice. I invited my mother in law and she appreciated it. I also invited my stepmom but she declined.

I think it’s personal preference. If you get along with them, it’s nice to invite them. I get along with my FMIL so she will be joining my grandma, myself and my bridesmaids while getting ready.

Okay! Thank you ladies! I'm going to invite them for sure then!

Mine did not. It didn’t even cross my mind to invite her. And, we get along just fine.

I think it is a personal decision. My parents are still married so I don't have a stepmom. My husband's parents are separated and his father is engaged. I only invited his mom to get ready with us since we had only met his father's fiancee twice prior to the wedding. His mom decided not to get ready with us because she didn't like how much the hair stylist and makeup artist charged. She was used to get her hair done at Walmart so she was stunned by how much wedding professionals charge. My sister-in-law who has been a bridesmaid 10+ and worked in the wedding industry tried telling her the hair stylist and makeup artist I hired were charging the standard. My grandmother on my mom's side also got ready with us. I am much closer to her than my grandmother on my dad's side. The flower girls' mother stayed was also with us, but she got ready on her own. She wanted to make sure the girls behaved.

I love my FMIL but she can be very stressful to be around. She’s very high energy and talks loudly and non stop. Too many people overwhelms me easily. I’m just inviting my BMs and my mom because I want my morning to be super relaxing.
