Getting ready

Nicole, on September 18, 2022 at 1:45 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 8
My parents are paying for all the bridesmaids, my fiancés mother, my mother, my moms mother and my dads mother hair and makeup to be done for the morning of. However, my fiancé doesn’t care if his step mom and his half sister get their hair and makeup done with us or if they go get it done somewhere in Houston (where our wedding will be). But I would like to include his step mom and half sister for the getting ready. The big issue is my parents don’t want to pay the extra $400 for them to get their hair and makeup done since there is already 14 people getting it done. What should I do? Include them & I pay for them (I just don’t have $400 to spare, but will be willing to try and save $ for them to be included) ? Try my hardest to convince my parents to pay for them? Or just let them find a place/ person to do it for them?

I think this depends on how badly you would like to include them. If it is just one of those “Gee, that would be nice“ sort of things, then I would probably just let him do their own hair and make up or find their own place to get it done. If it is super important for you to include them in this, then I would try to find a way to pay for those services. I definitely would not try to convince your parents to pony up more money. It sounds as though they are already being incredibly gracious with their funding, and trying to demand more will likely come off as ungrateful and entitled.

I think it’s more of a gee it would be nice kind of vibes for me. I just hate making people upset. But I don’t want to demand anything from my parents since they are footing the whole wedding day bill which I’m totally thankful & grateful for! I think they may have better luck trying to find their own place then. It’s not important to my fiancé for them to get their hair and makeup done. He wants his birth mom to be included which is totally a definite for me because I’m super close with her since we see her like every week. With his step mom & half sister, I only see them at like special events/ occasions. Thank you for making me feel better about the decision

If you have it in your budget and absolutely don't want to get ready without them, I think it would be a kind gesture to pay for them! Otherwise, I think it's totally fine to let them figure out their own plans for getting hair/makeup done. Since your parents have already said that they don't want to pay for them, I wouldn't try to convince your parents to cover their costs too.

I think that’s the best decision. Plus, if you already have 14 people getting ready with you, it is going to be a madhouse! I think you’ll be grateful you didn’t throw another two people into that mix.

I don’t really have like $400 lying around. So I think it’s best for them to find a place in Houston to do it. Unless my parents offer. But I doubt they will. Thank you for your input.

Yeah honestly, I didn’t think how crazy 14 people would be. It will be a madhouse. But honestly all these girls are soooo sweet and quiet so I don’t think it will be that crazy. With me being a type A, I will have a set schedule for who is going when for hair and makeup. Haha but I agree, I’ll just let them find a place. I may offer them suggestions

No matter how organized you are and how "sweet and quiet" everyone is, getting 14 people through wedding hair and makeup is going to be a major undertaking. Just daughter and me getting our hair & makeup done took from 7-10:30 am; we headed back to the house to meet the BMs and photographer just as MOG and her sister arrived at the salon. Hopefully, you've book a huge crew of stylists!
